Web Development

Given the fast-paced world we live and work in, a website has become the quintessential tool for any business whether it’s looking to increase online sales (Nationally or Internationally) or merely to increase brand exposure and provide a professional, credible presence online.

Before initiating the development of any Web Project, we look closely at a number of areas with our customer, in order to enable us to formulate an accurate specification for your website.

  • Design / Aesthetics – One of our designers looks closely at your brand to ensure the website will accurately communicate your image and values to the public. We also take into consideration the corporate identity of your business, avoiding any potential breaches of the corporate guidelines.

  • Accessibility / Standards – We take user accessibility and web standards rather seriously and ensure all our websites are standards compliant and operate consistently across all current browsers.

  • Ease of Use – With the exception of the content itself and how well this is indexed, ease of use is possibly the most important element of any website. The average user wants to access the desired content or information as quickly and as directly as possible. As a result of this, all our websites undergo user testing both during the design stage and after development to ensure navigation is at it’s best.

  • Search – Complementing ease of use, searching within a website is crucial to navigating it effectively – particularly on sites with rapidly growing content. As such, it’s vital for searching to be fast and yield the most relevant results. At all times the user should have to navigate through the least levels possible to reach any content across the entire website.

  • Maintenance – How straightforward is it to update content? Whether it is in the form of news, blog entries or merely typographical corrections, modifying your website shouldn’t be a problem in itself. It’s important to ensure the back end is easy to use whilst remaining flexible and versatile.

  • Search Engine Optimisation – Is all the content indexable by search engines i.e. Google? It’s important for care to be given to improving Prominence and Position of Key words and phrases thus ensuring optimum positioning of the website within the search results.

  • Flawless Integration – This could be one of the most important points to take into consideration. How well does the website integrate with the rest of your business? Do online sales link in directly with your warehouse / dispatch centre? Do you have a remote email ticket service for support that links in with the internal helpdesk of your business? Can you provide live telephone support that connects to your office?

  • Security – If payments are processed, are they done securely? If personal data is stored, can it be accessed externally i.e. by Search Engines?

The above list is by all means not a comprehensive one, though it should provide some idea of the level of care and attention that should go into developing a successful website.

We seek to work closely with our customers from conception right through to completion… and then on to optimisation. A successfully constructed website should provide access to the following information to allow future improvements, enhancements and optimisation:

  • Search Terms – Which terms were used to search for items / information on the website? Was the content immediately accessible? How long did each user remain on their destination page after a search?

  • Paid Advertising Campaigns – How did the user arrive at the website? If it was through paid advertising on search engines, which campaign did they click on? This is an excellent measure to determine the effectiveness of each campaign.

  • Google Analytics Information – Any website configured on Google Analytics immediately provides a wealth of information regarding usage and sources of traffic i.e. geographic distribution
